THIS TIME NEXT YEAR RODNEY...

We’re there; that time of year when most people have given up on their new year’s resolution. The commitment has dissipated and the normality of life and its pressures have taken hold again.  Don't give up... we can help you to achieve your goals.

Having worked with countless people over the years, our experience points to several useful habits that lead to success and achievement of goals – and personally speaking, these really supported me in a successful summit of Kilimanjaro (that’s me on the left in the pic at the top!).

Essentially, there are two critical steps to take:

1.     Create a compelling goal - as the Spice Girls told us, what you really, really want!

2.     Define, schedule and implement your plan to achieve your goal.

COMPELLING GOALS

We need to be motivated to achieve our goals, so identifying a really strong and compelling reason ‘WHY’ gives meaning and consequence.

These questions may help you with that:

Now you’ve answered the questions, on a scale of 1-10 how motivated do you feel? When you start getting to an 8 and above, you know you’re on the right track.

Be careful .... people sometimes make a resolution or set a goal that is based on what they believe they ought to do, think they should do, feel they need to do or know they must do... the outcome is often failure. These goals are often based on a sense of obligation to do something or an obligation to someone – what they are missing is a real sense of personal value and worth, without which there is not usually strong or sustainable commitment and they are doomed to fail.

THE 10 STEPS TO ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL

Once you've created a compelling goal, these steps will help you achieve it.

Working with a coach is proven to help people achieve the results they most want. We use the above approach in our coaching work to ensure our clients have a strong motivation to achieving their goal and then work alongside them, supporting and challenging them to achieve success.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. If you would like to chat more and consider how our coaches might be helpful to you personally, your organisation or your team, please do get in touch.
